It’s always a challenge to find the right shade of foundation that matches your skin tone perfectly. Most beauty gurus say that it’s almost impossible to find the perfect match to your skin. We think so too.
We’ve also all been through the trial and error phase where we buy a foundation that we think is a great match but ends up disappointing us. You later on discover that it’s too orange, too light or a tad dark for your skin tone. And, there’s always the problem of having to buy new shades every time the season changes – tan for the summer, pale for the winter. What’s a girl to do?
Visit the Body Shop website or visit the nearest Body Shop store near you.
Now that the Body Shop came up with their NEW Shade Adjusting Drops, we can say goodbye to those foundation color woes. These may be the very products you need to get a close-to-perfect match on your foundation color! You don’t even have to change shades during the winter or summer because you can adjust the shade of the foundation you already have with a couple of drops from the shade adjustors.
Two Shades Available
There are only two shades available: Lightening (Shade 41523) and Darkening (Shade 41524). The lightening shade looks white with a hint of grey and the darkening shade has more of a chocolate brown color. Both shades have cool undertones meaning that the underlying color to them is blue and not red.
The description on the website says that the “lightening shade neutralizes any yellowness while the darkening drop darkens while keeping natural depth” (source: The Body Shop USA).
How to Use the Drops
If you’ve mixed foundations before, you’ll know how to use these drops. They’re pretty self-explanatory: the lightening shade lightens up foundation and the darkening shade darkens the foundation color. How light or dark your shade will get will depend on the number of drops you put in your regular foundation.
TIP: Shake the shade adjustor well before using it.
Put some of your foundation unto the back of your hand or a makeup mixing plate and then apply one drop of the Body Shop’s Shade Adjusting Drops. Mix well and then apply a small amount of the mix unto your face to test it. If you’re not happy with the result, you can apply another drop to your mix. Repeat the process of dropping and testing until you get the shade you wanted.
Does it Work?
We haven’t tested out the products ourselves but here are a few reviews that you can base your conclusions on:
We Like the Idea Because
Having the two shades of the Body Shop’s Shade Adjusting Drops means that you may no longer have to throw away or return foundations that do not match your skin tone. As mentioned earlier, you also don’t have to purchase other foundation shades when the season changes because all you have to do is adjust the shade of your current foundation with one drop.
The two bottles cost $20.00 each which makes it $40.00 for two bottles. Each one has 15ml in it but since you only have to use one or two drops, 15ml will go a long way.
