First of all, it’s been a while since I did a “personal items” post and a skincare post so this article is long overdue.
If you’ve read the past blog posts I did on skincare, I always say that I am a sucker for skincare products (this is still true). Sure I do makeup but it’s always (always!) a good thing if you look great even without it. Lately, I’ve been buying a lot of affordable skincare items that are locally and internationally made. I use each one weekly and they’ve been helping me make my skin look healthy (take note: I said healthy, not perfect). I thought I’d share them with you.
Here’s what they are and why I use them:
1. St. Ives Green Tea Scrub
USAGE: Once a week or as needed.
WHAT FOR: I use this scrub for exfoliating dead skin and for pimple prevention. I have combination skin so I pretty much have do this on a weekly basis to help lessen dry patches on my skin and help clean out my clogged pores. I tried to use it daily but it is definitely not advisable because it’ll dry your skin out even more (based on experience). I also use this as needed when “the time of the month” is about to arrive. I usually know because I get 2-3 pimples on my chin or under my nose.
USAGE: Once a week or the morning right after an all-nighter.
WHAT FOR: I feel like the skin under our eyes get less elastic and more fragile as we grow older so I always make it a point to make focus moisture on that area. I use this product once a week or the morning after I pulled an all-nighter (I usually feel like my under eye area gets drier).
3. Watson’s Pore Strips
USAGE: Once a week.
WHAT FOR: I have huge clogged pores on my nose (blackheads) so I routinely pull them out using this pore strip. I sometimes apply it on my chin too if I like the pores there are clogging up.
4. Quick FX
Can you guys tell by now that I love going to Watson’s? This particular item is not by Watson’s but it is sold there and there’s a variety of it available (pimple creams, tinted moisturizers and etc).
USAGE: As needed.
WHAT FOR: I personally went for the eye cream for the same reason I got the eye mask — to moisturize my under eye area. This, however, is my daily fix. Like, during the day, if I feel like my under eye area looks “thirsty”, I will get this out of my bag and dab it on my under eyes.
5. Garnier Whitening Cream
USAGE: Daily or as needed.
WHAT FOR: Daily moisturizer with sun protecting and acne preventing qualities. Did you notice that I also love anything with salicylic acid? This cream also mattefies my face. I don’t usually need to apply powder afterwards because the finish of this cream is similar.
WHAT FOR: I use this particular product when I feel like my skin needs a little boost. This helps makes my skin look glowy if I don’t really want to matte finish of my Garnier cream. Think of it as a tinted moisturizer. It has sun protecting factors and it has a light to medium coverage.
These are currently the items that I am obsessed with. The items that I got from Watson’s are made from Korea which made me want to use them all the more. The rest are from the USA and the Philippines. For me, they really do a good job in maintaining my skin so I will probably stick to these for a while. I’d be glad to do reviews on them by demand — don’t be shy and comment below.
‘Till next time!
