By now, everyone who is into makeup knows what a Beauty Blender is. It’s become a staple in every makeup enthusiasts beauty kit! It’s so popular today because it helps you blend liquid or cream makeup, giving you a seamless and flawless finish. Actually, Beauty Blender is the name of the company that introduced the revolutionary sponge into the makeup market. But, could the Beauty Blender sponge have met its match with a new type of makeup blending tool called the Silisponge?
How Is The Silisponge Different?
The Silisponge is a blending tool that can help blend out your liquid or cream makeup without absorbing any product. It is made of PU which means polyurethane when Googled. There isn’t a lot of information on the website regarding its material, but the inside is most probably silicone, enveloped by a coating of PU.
Because the material is different, the Silisponge is not your typical porous sponge. It does not have any pores, which means that it will not absorb any product like other sponges do. Clean up is also easier because all you have to do is rinse the Silisponge off with soap and water. You don’t even have to leave it to dry. You can wipe off the water, and it’s ready for use again.
Will The Silisponge Replace The Beauty Blender?
According to Refinery29, it was Reddit users who first discovered the Silisponge, and, with all other new makeup tools that have been released, everyone is wondering if this new silicone sponge is just another overnight fad.
Who Made The Silisponge?
An indie makeup company called Molly Cosmetics sells the sponge through their website. It is currently sold-out, which indicates that it may be rising in popularity. Molly Cosmetics will restock on January 6, 2017, based on their website. They’re selling the Silisponge for $9.90.
Does It Work?
If you go to Molly Cosmetics’ Instagram page, you’ll see how the possible Beauty Blender replacement is used. It’s just like using any other sponge but with less waste on your liquid or cream makeup. From the looks of it, it seems to be working well, although there aren’t any reviews or How-To videos on YouTube yet. As you can see on the Instagram video, you don’t need a lot of product to cover a small area.
A Dupe For A Dupe
What Get Pretty found on YouTube though was a video of a dupe for this possible Beauty Blender upgraded dupe – a dupe for a dupe, get it? Interestingly, YouTuber @HelloMaphie discovered that you could get the same effect when it comes to blending out your makeup by using those silicone inserts that almost everyone has in their bras. Check out the video here.
