Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain – I have been wanting to get my hands on one of these for such a long time. I couldn’t really get this in department stores in my city but good thing I discovered one online seller who sells these specifically (along with other high-end makeup brands).
First Impression & Color Choice
I got mine in 02 Sweet Pink. I wanted something that looked natural and that I could wear everyday. I like that it said “balm” and “stain” on the packaging because that’s exactly what I wanted – a lip balm, with great color pay-off that will last for a long time.
Packaging, Net Wt & Price
The balm stain is tapered at the tip to make application more precise. I like that you could simply twist it up and then apply it without any hassle (just like a lipstick). I was expecting it to be a little longer though. The actual length of the balm stain is about the same as the product’s lid or cover; so I was a little disappointed.
I paid about $7.26AUD for this and while the price is not that bad, I was still expecting it to be at least a few centimeters longer than it actually is.
When I swatched it on my hand, I was surprised to see how pigmented it was. I noticed, however, that it wasn’t the shade that I was expecting. It could just be me but I was thinking that the color was going to be lighter. It turns out, it’s more fuscia, magenta or hot pink than punch.
I thought that maybe when I try it on, the color might change. That’s one thing that you should remember when choosing a lip color: you should really try applying it on your lips because the color outcome will depend on what your natural lip color is. I wasn’t able to do the whole testing thing on the lips because I was so excited to get one of my own (lesson learned).
Application & Lasting Power
Is it just me or does it look like it has a more purple undertone to it? Despite the disappointment in color, I was pretty impressed by how non-drying it is. I usually do not go for stains because it dries up my lips pretty quickly. This, however, did not and I’m giving Jordana points for that.
I wore this yesterday to see how well it will stay on my lips and it stays true to its word. It didn’t even come off that much when I drank coffee. Retouching was not needed for about 5-8 hours (seriously) but, naturally, it could come off quicker when you drink a lot of water or when you eat a lot throughout the day.
Summary (1-5 Rating)
- Packaging – 5
- Amount – 3.5
- Color pay-off – 5
- Color choices – 3.5 (There are better ones. You just have to take time to test it out)
- Staying power – 5
Possible repurchase? YES but I’m going for another color. I’m still going to use this one though (I’ll make it work). Have you tried any of Jordana’s Balm Stains? What color did you go for?
